This October, the Austin chapter of the American Institute of Architects will host its 36th annual AIA Austin Homes Tour as a fully in-person event, following past virtual and hybrid versions of the tour staged in 2020 and 2021 due to pandemic concerns. The event’s return to form as one of the nation’s longest-running celebrations of residential architecture features self-guided tours of new and renovated homes around Austin, designed by a number of prominent local studios.
This week, AIA Austin has released a number of tickets at early bird pricing for the event, with general admission now at $40 and set to rise to $45 after September 9, or $50 during the days of the tour. Tickets including a continuing education credit are now available for $60, and VIP tickets with a load of extra perks are on sale for $95. (We’re also giving away two pairs of general admission tickets on Twitter. Stay tuned.)
Architects behind the homes featured on this year’s tour include, in alphabetical order: Cuppett Kilpatrick Architects; Candace Wong Architecture + Design; Dick Clark + Associates; Erica Heroy Architecture and Design; Lake|Flato, Forge Craft Architecture + Design with Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects; Furman + Keil Architects; Lemmo Architecture and Design; and Studio Steinbomer. Highlights include a 1951 midcentury home by famed local architect A.D. Stenger, preserved and remodeled by Candace Wong Architecture + Design; along with a newly-built house by well-known Texas firm Lake|Flato featuring 3D printed walls.
This year’s tour also includes webinars with each of the nine architects featured in the lineup of homes, taking place prior to the event beginning the week of September 12 through the start of the tour. All continuing education ticket holders will have access to these webinars, but they can also be purchased individually for $25 per session, with AIA CE credit available.
